Nancy's organic Irish soda bread
With my mother being born and raised in County Mayo in the west of Ireland, I was brought up on her home made soda bread.
I've never fallen out of love with it, so even as a sourdough specialist I have to include this classic Irish soda recipe in the repertoire... and I had to name it after my dear old Ma!
Hand-mixed, and made exclusively with half-and-half certified organic wholegrain and white flours.
Guaranteed home-baked in Reydon, Suffolk.
Appearance (pattern and colour) varies according to my whim!
Available in two sizes.
- organic wheat flour (choose white or wholemeal)
- organic sea salt
- milk and a dash of cream
- baking powder
This loaf is wonderful when absolutely fresh and still hot out of the oven, when it's combination of moistness and crumbliness makes it smell, taste and feel incredibly self-indulgent!
Amazing with butter. Fantastic with honey. Unbelievable with a good jam.
Once cool it will keep very well for a week in a cool place.
It also freezes wonderfully.
This loaf is NOT gluten free. NOT suitable for people with coeliac disease. Vegetarian, but NOT vegan.
